WICHITA (AP) — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is holding a summit to help community groups reduce the number of students dropping out of school before graduating.
The Kansas DropINs program is Tuesday at Wichita State University’s Rhatigan Student Center.
The keynote speakers will include Martha Abele Mac Iver, an educational researcher from Johns Hopkins University; DeVone Boggan, director of neighborhood safety for Richmond, Calif.; and Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame kicker Nick Lowery. Lowery is founding director of the National Fund for Excellence in American Indian Education.
Kansas Lt. Gov. Troy Findley and KDHE Secretary Roderick Bremby also will speak.
