A Council Grove man was airlifted to Stormont-Vail HealthCare Friday morning after he was thrown from his pickup truck in a one-vehicle accident north of Council Grove.
According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Larry Gail Wilson, 68, was southbound on US Highway 177 when the 1997 GMC Sierra he was driving crossed the northbound lanes and entered the east ditch. It traveled approximately 287 feet in the ditch before returning to the highway, where Wilson was ejected out the passenger side window.
The vehicle continued into the west ditch and came to rest on top of Wilson.
The accident happened about 9:55 a.m. 10 miles north of Council Grove. He was not wearing a safety restraint, KHP reported.
A Stormont-Vail spokeswoman said that at the request of the family, information on Wilson's condition will not be released.
