Senior Life Fair
Friday, October 16, 2009
Reservations are due Wednesday for the 2009 Flint Hills Senior Life Fair, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Harvest House behind the Flint Hills Christian Church, 1836 E. Highway 50. There will be educational sessions, vendor booths, entertainment and door prizes. The keynote speaker at 12:45 p.m. will be Dr. Bowen White, a physician, speaker, consultant and author.
In 1983, White founded the Department of Preventive and Stress Medicine for Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., one of the first such departments in United States. His presentation, “Aging: Why Normal Isn’t Healthy,” is about growing young instead of growing old, stated the news release.
Admission to the fair is free. Lunch will be catered by the Olpe Chicken House at a cost of $5. Lunch reservations are required by Wednesday. Registration forms are available at all area senior centers, Newman Regional Health and the Lyon County Department on Aging.
