The Lyon County Health Department has received its first shipment of H1N1 vaccine and is targeting health care workers as recipients during this first round.
“Initial availability of the vaccine will be limited so the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has recommended target vaccination groups,” Renee Hively, public health manager for Lyon County Health Department, said in a press release.
Hively said the public will be notified when the vaccine is available to the general public.
“At this time, H1N1 influenza vaccine is available for health care personnel with direct patient care contact and emergency medical services,” Hively said.
Clinics will be held at the Lyon County Health Department:
• 12 to 2 p.m. Monday
• 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday
• 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday
Limited appointment times are available and can be made by calling 342-4864, extensions 3476 or 3747.
