Three groups have joined forces to encourage Emporia Middle School students to be “Champions of Respect.”
The campaign kickoff began with separate assemblies for seventh- and eighth-grade students on Monday, when representatives of the Emporia Police Department, SOS and the EMS Parent Teacher Organization asked students to pledge not to bully or judge others, or be jealous or controlling.
Students will nominate townspeople, teachers, staff or other students for a special Champion of Respect award for the project, which is intended to become an annual event. Forms will be available in all English classes.
