Community members are gearing up for the Emporia Main Street Auction that will take place Wednesday at the Granada Theatre.
A silent auction and social gathering will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a live auction starting at 7.
Proceeds from the auction will go toward Main Street’s public improvement fund, which allows the organization to put together community improvement projects.
“Since the auction’s inception, we’ve been able to fund a series of projects throughout Emporia,” including the ‘Enjoy Emporia’ banners and the We the People sculpture in front of the museum, said Main Street director Casey Woods.
This year’s proceeds will go toward the purchase of bike racks and a Green Machine. The bike racks are being made through a collaboration with the Flint Hills Technical College.
This year’s auction will be the fifth annual auction for Main Street. Items to be auctioned include artwork such as a glass sculpture and iron work, a variety of concert and theater tickets, gift baskets, an autographed pair of Clint Bowyer driving gloves and much more.
