The Coffey County Republican reported that Coffey County Commissioners recently approved a $1.1 million contract with Motorola Inc. for a new radio system that will meet federal mandates that become effective on Jan. 1, 2013.
The contract with Motorola is for a countywide ASTRO25 Digital 800 MHz radio system in the total of amount of $1,099,778.45. Funds will be paid by Coffey County, Coffey County Fire District No. 1, Coffey County Hospital and the cities of Burlington, Lebo, Waverly and LeRoy.

The Coffey County Republican reported that the LeRoy City Council agreed by consensus at its Sept. 14 meeting to enter in a contract with Richard Zingre to prepare preliminary design proposals for a community building.
