Emporia High went 1-2 on Thursday at Shawnee Mission Northwest against three 6A schools.
The Spartans opened with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 win against the host Cougars.
Emporia dropped its next match against Olathe South, losing in three sets, 13-25, 25-23, 23-25.
The Spartans got swept in their final match against Olathe Northwest, 21-25, 19-25.
Lauren Longbine had a team-high 24 kills and also added four assist blocks and eight digs. Megan McRell led the team with 72 assists over the three matches and she also had eight digs.
Courtney Walder had 13 kills and led the team with five solo blocks and nine assist blocks. Lindy Arndt added 13 kills, 15 digs and eight assist blocks. Gladys Azzun had 11 kills and six assist blocks, and Kelly Bacon had nine kills.
Andrea Markowitz led the Spartan in digs with 30, Taylor Elbe had 13 and Bailey Sosa added nine.
The Spartans played Thursday night without starter Sarah Kolmer, who missed the match with a leg injury. EHS dropped to 13-16.
