The Emporia community will have the opportunity to hear the voice of a Holocaust survivor this fall.
SOS will host Holocaust survivor Nesse Godin on Nov. 23. Godin is a survivor of the Shauliai, Lithuania Ghetto, the Stutthof Concentration Camp, four labor camps and a death march, according to the press release from SOS.
“She has dedicated her adult life to teaching and sharing memories of the Holocaust,” the press release stated. “Nesse has the ability to translate the Holocaust into a personal glimpse of this enormous and horrifying drama.”
Godin volunteers at the United States Holocaust Museum.
“I was a prisoner from the age of 13 to 17. I lived through a ghetto, concentration camp, four labor camps and a death march. I was not strong, I was not smart. I was a little girl,” she said in explaining why she volunteers. “I think that I survived that Holocaust by the grace of the Lord above and by the kindness of Jewish women that gave me a bite of bread, wrapped my body in straw to keep me warm, held me up when I was hurt by the guards, gave me hope but also asked me to promise them that if I survived I would not let them be forgotten.”
SOS is working to raise awareness of issues of abuse and survival and to raise funds for its New Beginning Fund, which supports victims’ services. Godin will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Emporia High School Auditorium. Tickets for the program cost $15 each and will be on sale at the Granada Coffee Co., Credit Union of Emporia and SOS administrative offices in the lower level of CoreFirst Bank & Trust, 701 Merchant St.
“We want to focus on education and prevention of abuse, in addition to serving as a crisis organization,” said Diane Jensen, SOS board of directors’ chairperson. “Nesse’s story of the abuse she and countless others suffered in the Holocaust is horrifying and her story of survival is inspirational.”

"In Germany they came first for the communists and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a protestant. Then they came for me and by that time no one was left to speak up. PLEASE google Population Control Agenda Stanley K. Monteith,MD.....This is one of the most difficult concepts for Americans.

Every so often we all need a refresher course on man's inhumanity to man. And all we need to do for that is look around us...we don't have to google anything.
