Q I see several street-legal golf carts being driven around town. Are there special traffic rules that apply to these carts?

Does it have to be registered and insured if you only drive it in parades? My concern is that, during the parade, I may have to swerve to avoid a small child collecting candy and slam into the back of a police car. What happens if my golf cart is uninsured? I know I'll have to pay for the damage out of pocket, but will I be given a misdemeanor for not having liability coverage?
Too bad everyday isn't a parade...I wouldn't have to pay for liability coverage or register my vehicle...
