The Steering Committee would like to thank the people of Emporia and the surrounding area who supported our Walk to Defeat ALS. We have many causes that are supported so generously by our very caring community. A special thanks to Country Mart, Walmart, Dolly Madison, Pepsi and Ferrellgas for their contributions. Also, thanks to Brandy and to the Emporia Gazette and KVOE for their generous coverage.
A huge thanks to the Burenheide family that made a large quilt, two small quilts and a table topper. People could purchase opportunities to obtain these. This generated about $7,000, and Ferrellgas of Kansas City matched this amount. The large quilt and one small quilt went to Colorado. The other small quilt went to Oklahoma and the table topper stayed in Emporia. Opportunities were purchased in five different states. Thank you, Burenheides and Ferrellgas.
ALS is such a cruel disease. Our walk raised $32,000. Hopefully, what we do can help make a difference. Where there is hope there is a way. Let’s defeat ALS.
