Wednesday
• The Emporia City Commission will meet for an action session at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the city commission/municipal court room, 518 Mechanic St. Among the items to be discussed will be ordinances amending water and solid waste rates for the city of Emporia.
• The Lyon County Commission will meet for a study session at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the commission chambers, Room 102 of the Lyon County Courthouse. Among the items to be discussed will be fencing requirements at Gibson’s Salvage.
Thursday
• The Lyon County Commission will meet for an action session at 8 a.m. Thursday in the commission chambers, room 102 of the Lyon County Courthouse.
Friday
• The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas will meet at 7 a.m. Friday at the Trusler Business Center, 719 Commercial St.
• Emporia High School football, 7 p.m. at Welch Stadium.
Saturday
• The second annual Harvest Festival will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Emporia Farmers Market, Eighth Avenue and Merchant Street.
• William Allen White Children’s Book Awards for 2009 will be given out in a ceremony at the W.L. White Auditorium beginning at 1 p.m. The ceremony will begin following a parade of student readers from Emporia State University to the auditorium.
