TOPEKA — Something felt all-too-familiar for the Emporia State volleyball team on Friday.
Emporia State won the first two sets against fellow sixth-ranked West Texas A&M, hit a dead spot in the third set and went on to lose three straight sets.
The coach for the Lady Buffs is former Truman State coach Jason Skoch, and under Skoch, Truman has ended Emporia State’s season for three straight years.
“There’s something about that guy,” Arica Shepard said, “and we really can’t beat him when it comes time to do it.”
Last year pre-Skoch, Emporia State ended West Texas A&M’s season in the Regional semifinals, and Friday was a chance for revenge for the Lady Buffs. It was also a chance for the voters in the National poll to see which team deserved the No. 6 spot by itself.
