Free digital thermostats will be provided and installed at no charge for Westar Energy’s residential customers and some small- and medium-sized commercial accounts as well.
“It’s a brand-new program,” said Westar spokesperson Karen Smith. “We kicked it off Oct. 1st in the Wichita area.”
The programmable Honeywell thermostat, plus installation, equipment, and an online energy management system, are valued at $300, Smith said.
