Vehicle registration
Monday ( Nov. 30) is the last day for people whose last name begins with the letters T, V or W to renew their vehicle registrations without a penalty. The motor vehicle office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those renewing are to bring their driver’s license along with proof of insurance for each vehicle. The Lyon County Courthouse will be closed Nov. 26 and 27.
Adopt a family this Christmas
The Salvation Army Angel Trees have been set up at: Walmart at both entrances, Pizza Ranch, Bank of America, ESU Center for Student Involvement, Emporia State Bank (both locations) after Nov. 30.
Also, families are available to be adopted for Christmas. Interested groups or individuals who wish to help provide a family with a meal and children with gifts can call the Salvation Army office at 342-3093.
Christmas assistance
The Salvation Army will take applications for Christmas assistance from 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at 327 Constitution St.
Applicants need to bring: picture identification of applicant and printout from SRS if receiving food stamps OR picture identification of applicant, Social Security cards for every person in the household, proof of all income including employment (most current two paycheck stubs, Social Security, unemployment, etc.), proof of Lyon County residence. Annual meeting
The North Lyon County Youth Association will have the annual meeting Dec. 6 at the NLC Community Center in Allen. There will be a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. New board members and officers will be elected. All NLCYA members are encouraged to attend.
