Former Emporian Alice M. Emerson is working at Eastern Washington University at Cheney, Wash., in an administrative position in counseling and psychological services, as reported by Mary Winstead Bonner of Emporia, professor emerita at Emporia State University. Emerson was a sixth-grade student of Mary Bonner in 1964 at Butcher Children’s School.

Emerson graduated from Emporia Kansas State College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology; from Wichita State University with a master’s degree in anthropology; from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., with a doctorate in anthropology and a doctorate in educational leadership and counseling psychology (APA Accredited) and APA accredited internship. Her dissertation was the “Initial Development and Validation of a Gay and Lesbian Individual and Group Stereotyping Scale.” Her first dissertation was “Archaeological Implications of the Economic Anatomy of Bison-bison.”

Previously, Emerson served as counselor for counseling and testing services at Washington State University in Pullman and provided counseling for several doctoral students, walk-in crisis intervention, on-call crisis service and testing assessments, reported Bonner in her letter. Emerson also has teaching, assessment and outreach experience and consultation experience, said Bonner.
