Emporia State coach David Moe has seen what an overtime loss can do to a team before, and he’s not about to let it happen to his team this year.
Moe only has to look back two years ago to see the impact an emotional loss can have. The Hornets lost a four-overtime game at Midwestern State, and then went on to drop their next two.
They also lost the cell phone game to Northwest Missouri in overtime when official Tom Svehla waved off Andrew Davison’s game-winning shot by using a stopwatch on a cell phone to check whether Davison got the shot off on time. After that loss, they went on to lose five straight.
