Can’t find time to take a traditional semester-long class? Flint Hills Technical College has expanded its evening, weekend and online courses offerings to allow more flexibility for students.
Beginning with the spring 2010 semester in January, students will be able to complete several general education courses within about two weekends. The courses let students earn college credit on the weekend instead of during the regular school week. Students can earn transferable, accredited college credit — general biology and lab, English composition I, introduction to psychology, introduction to sociology, pubic speaking and interpersonal communication.
“The traditional 8:30 to 3:30 class schedule simply does not fit into the busy lives of many of our students,” said Rachael Leclear, general education coordinator. “With online, evening, and now weekend courses, students will have the option of completing many of their courses when it is most convenient for them”
Late afternoon and evening courses are also being offered during the spring 2010 semester, beginning in January. Areas of instruction include anatomy and physiology and lab, college algebra, physical science, introduction to psychology, and introduction to sociology.
The business administrative technology and power plant technology programs are also offering a variety of courses online during the spring 2010 semester.
“Our goal is to eliminate the barriers that students face in completing their education, and creating flexibility in course offerings is one way of accomplishing that,” said Leclear.
