A new location and combined activities meant a successful night for the National Teachers Hall of Fame on Thursday.
This year’s auction raised a total of $14,418, about $3,000 better than last year, according to Jenny Harder, director of induction and recognition for the hall of fame. That total includes $2,428 that was raised in the silent auction and a $1,000 donation from the Emporia State Federal Credit Union.
Proceeds from the auction will go toward the annual induction activities of each class of hall of fame teachers.
Some of the more popular items were several Steinbach nutcrackers, a University of Kansas basketball and a series of condominium trips that each sold for more than $600.
