Not Trester

Friday, November 20, 2009

Dickinson County Sheriff Gareth Hoffman has released the name of a man whose body was found Tuesday afternoon by a hunter outside Chapman.

The victim was identified as Walter Henry Miller, 53, whose last known residence was Owensboro, Ky.

“Miller had not had any recent contact with any family and authorities have not been made aware of any ties Miller may have had to this area,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said that a preliminary autopsy done by the Shawnee County Coroners Office on Miller did not reveal any signs of foul play and did show some signs of physical health problems.

Discovery of the body had prompted questions from Lyon Countians whether the victim was Brian Trester, a 27-year-old Neosho Rapids man who was reported missing in October. The pickup truck Trester was driving when he left home bound for work was found unattended and stuck at the intersection of Roads R5 and 75.

The search for Brian Trester continues.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lyon County Sheriff’s office at 342-5545 or Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 342-2273.

At least the Miller family has some closure. How horrible for the Trester family to have to wait and wonder, though. I'm praying for them still.

why isnt this kids picture posted on tv news every night and in the paper daily? if he were blond with blue eyes and female it would be posted everywhere!!!!! It does not seem to me enough is being done to get his piture out there.

Perhaps it's because law enforcement has information that he is not missing, but a walk away from the justice system, AKA an absconder? There have been offers on the other thread from people to help with a search party, but the family seems very quiet.

And if you are trying to drop the race/sex card into this story, you are, (to put it politely), mistaken.

well steve if you are right i would think law enforcement would step up the search if he is wanted for something seems they would want to get him off the street. show his picture more thats what they do when someone is wanted right??? the race card no iam white i have no race card i just say what i think when a young white girl is missing the search is on. which it ought to be wanted or not his family needs to know where hes at!!!

Why would the local law enforcement send info to kansas city law enforcment? It really IS time for local law enforcement to let the public Know what's up? $500.00 , I am doing what I can. What about search partys? If you know something call the sheriffs office, if he is found I will give you $500.00! NOQUESTIONS ASKED!

Many, many, many people "go missing" in this country every week. Cold hard reality is unless there is evidence of foul play (and a young girl going missing can in and of itself be looked as an indication of foul play) law enforcement and the media do not have the resources to mount a pedal to the metal search for all of them. That may sound harsh.....and I assure you that if it was my brother I would feel the same as you....but it is a fact of life.

Crickets...No response from the family or his girlfriend at all...I will be honest with you Steve, I thought you were way off base when this whole thing began, but I am beginning to believe that you are correct. Perhaps he really is just an absconder...I suppose I prefer that to the alternative anyways...

I'm with Steve on this, that this kid is an absconder from the justice system for some reason. He was up for review, but something must have happened in the interim to give him reason to book.

Steve, that's very big of you to offer the reward. Thanks for being a good man.

The authorities are not going to put out an amber alert for a grown man, particularly one who was on parole.

The family has done a search but K.B.I and the police told them to quit doing there job for them, the family has waited for any news from the K.B.I. but more than a month later no news, the family didnt put another search together because the police told them not to, now they havnt heard a thing from any law enforcement
they are setting up another search on the five mile section near where Brians truck was found, they have done what the police asked and stayed out of the way, now they cant wait any longer.
Brian did not run, Who runs and leaves their money?
Brian needs to be found, we will match your reward Steve
god bless everyone who has offerd to help, thank you
i will post the date when the next search will take place if anyone still wants to search, we have waited on the police but they seem to have alot of other things to take care of, wich is understandable, but now we have to take it into our own hands i hope the police do not stop us from performing this search.
Again God Bless everyone who had kind words or offerd to help

neoshofalls-good luck hope he is found my heart goes out to his family I have kids his age and I dont beleive he would just walk away and leave his family to worry if he was going to be off parole in november what do some of you think hes running from.?And if he was going to run wouldnt he need to take his money with him? that is why Iam afraid he didnt just leave and yes foul play does happen to young men. God Bless his family and friends hope he is found very soon!!!

I don't know this guy at all so I am not accusing him of anything. But if I was going to abscond I certainly would try to leave anything behind that might look like that's what I had done. I would gather as much money as I could from other sources and then leave all of my known money behind to be sent to me at a later date.

what is he running from then his parole was up in november? everyone thinks hes on the run but no one seems to know why he would be running. abscond is someone running from punishment his punishment was about to end so lets quit thinking hes done wrong and look for this kid there is no information out there to say he was in any kind of trouble except past trouble that his parole was about to end for right? so I think its a excuse to not go forward his piture needs to be out there epd and kbi needs to keep looking. I dont know this kid or his family but it worries me that he has been so easily dismissed by some as a criminal on the run with no evidence of this.God Bless his family and friends

ok the best got ahold of me i looked up this young mans record again I Ask what do some of you think hes running from? sounds like he made mistakes but did his time you think if he was going to run it would of been before his punishment before prison no he did his time something is very wrong wake up he has no reason to run.
