Few Emporians got to witness the show that Tim Niles put on Monday night at Central Oklahoma.
Niles made sure to keep it going Wednesday night in Emporia State’s 97-57 win over Bethany at White Auditorium. The senior guard scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the first half, knocking down four 3-pointers and providing the crowd with several did-he-really-just-make-that? moments, similar to Monday night’s 45-point performance.
“I didn’t cool off yet,” Niles said. “I was hungry for a win, and I just came out doing the same thing I did Monday.”
Niles let his teammates get involved in the offense early and didn’t score for the first five minutes. Lamar Wilbern, who struggled shooting on Monday, started off hot, making two straight 3-pointers to start the game.
With 7:26 left in the first half, Wilbern fell to the ground in pain, holding his left ankle. He left the game with what appeared to be a left ankle sprain and left White Auditorium after the game on crutches.
