Thanksgiving homes needed for international students

Host homes are needed for international students during the Thanksgiving holiday, and a local man is reaching out to students who don’t have a place to go.
Garen Forsythe, who has been organizing host homes for international students during the holidays since 1990, is asking for families who have an extra seat or two to step up and allow an international student to share in Thanksgiving dinner. The past several years, Forsythe has been able to place between 70 and 80 students.
“There is a lot of internationals here who stay for Thanksgiving and it’s pretty boring in the dormitories,” Forsythe said. “We just try to find homes and families that will take students in for the day.”
Forsythe said he works with international students through an outreach ministry.
“Our mission is to be the touch of God’s love to international students at Emporia State University,” he said. “We just want to bless them and help them have a good experience here. Part of that is letting them experience the culture like holiday stuff and helping them not to be lonely or stuck somewhere where not much is going on.”

They are welcome to come the Church of Christ at Neosho and 12th for Thanksgiving dinner. I know it's not exactly like home but you sure will not be alone.
