Emporia State coach Brandon Schneider says the toughest transition new players face is thinking instead of reacting.
“When you think, you slow down,” Schneider said.
In the Lady Hornets’ only exhibition game against Kansas, they couldn’t afford to slow down. They should be in better shape tonight in the regular season opener against Benedictine, a chance for the five newcomers to get comfortable and gain some confidence.
The Lady Hornets are still without injured starters Sophia Lenard and Alli Volkens. Schneider was hopeful that Lenard would return to practice this week, and the goal for Volkens has been to return for the ESU Tip-Off Classic this weekend.
