Hostess honors workers

Hostess Brands, formerly known as IBC-Dolly Madison Bakery, held its annual quarterly town hall meeting at Bruff’s on Nov. 4. Employees were informed of major accomplishments for the first quarter of FY 2010; current company production, sales and safety statistics; and new product innovations that will hit the market in the Spring of 2010.
Fourteen top performing employees received recognition for continually going above and beyond expectations at the Emporia bakery.
Productions workers Mike Schierling, Michael Croos, Justin Hammon and David Switzer were recognized for their attention to detail when it comes to producing top-quality products.
Shipping workers Ginny Kiser, Josh Ruiz and Ron Carpenter received recognition for always focusing on teamwork to improve productivity.
Andy Frye, lead receiving clerk, was recognized for recognizing problems and creating solutions to improve the work environment in the receiving department.
Matt Blair, sanitor, was commended for his expertise when dealing with allergens to prevent cross-contamination. Kenny Douglas, lead sanitor, was recognized for his ability to train new sanitation employees and creating a positive cohesion between employees.
Jim Clumsky, engineering supervisor, has been employed by Hostess Brands for 21 years. He has been instrumental in reducing downtime and providing extra training to maintenance engineers.
Angie Heins, Anita Baumer and Paula Milner, Emporia human resources department, received recognition for going above and beyond their daily duties by assisting other bakeries and departments locally and in the Kansas City and Dallas offices.
