Rummage sale; Mexican meal

Rummage sale

The First Christian Church will have a Rummage Sale, Coffee Bar and Soup and Pie Lunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the basement of the church. The Coffee Bar is from 8 to 10 a.m. and the Soup and Pie Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There also will be a Christmas Room, along with other specialty rooms.

Mexican meal

Grace United Methodist Church will be host for a Mexican Dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday with Mexican food “so authentic that you will think you are in Guadalajara,” stated the press release. Foods include tacos, Mexican rice, beans, salsa and more. A free will offering will be accepted. All proceeds will go to the church general budget.

Breakfast in Rapids

The Neosho Rapids Community Projects committee will serve biscuits and gravy from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Neosho Rapids Community Center. Proceeds will be used for improvements at the Jones Park in Neosho Rapids.

Bazaar in Lebo ...

The Lebo United Methodist Women will have their annual bazaar beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with a cinnamon roll and coffee bar. The bazaar booths will feature fall and Christmas decorations and ornaments, crafts, needlework, baked goods and a men’s variety booth. At 11 a.m., a lunch of soups, sandwiches, pies and coffee will be served. At 5 p.m., there will be a turkey and roast beef dinner with “all the trimmings,” stated the press release. Proceeds will benefit local and area mission work sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

... and in Osage City

The Grace Lutheran Church Bazaar in Osage City will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Coffee and rolls will be offered in the morning after which there will be a brisket lunch, with serving beginning at 11:30 a.m. The meal includes brisket, potatoes and gravy, green beans, salads, rolls or rye bread, pie and beverage for $7. The cost is $3 for children 10 years and younger. There will be baked goods and craft items for sale. Proceeds will benefit the church Capital Improvement Fund.

Penny lunch

The women of the Melvern United Methodist Church will serve the last Penny Lunch of the season from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Foods include hot beef or sloppy Joe sandwiches, salads, baked beans, deviled eggs, cake, homemade ice cream and coffee or tea. An elevator is available.

Dinner in Dunlap

The Dunlap United Methodist Women will serve their annual Country Dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the church fellowship hall. The menu features roast beef, green beans, salad, French bread, homemade pie, tea or coffee. There also will be a Country Store with baked goods, crafts and miscellaneous items for sale. Donations for the meal will be used for UMW projects in the area.

Mountain oysters on menu

The Lebo American Legion will have a Stag Supper at 7 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall. Supper includes mountain oysters and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, lettuce salad and tea or coffee. A donation of $7 will be accepted.

Soup supper

The Emporia Farmers Market Hot Soup fundraiser will be held from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lyon County extension office meeting room, 2632 W. Highway 50. All soups feature local ingredients. Choices are white chicken chili, corn chicken chowder, hamburger barley soup, steak and noodle soup, meaty potato soup, vegetarian tomato soup, vegetarian pumpkin soup, beer cheese soup and more. The cost is $3 for an eight-ounce cup or $6 for a pint to go. Accompaniments of breadsticks, cornbread, crackers and cookies are also planned. All proceeds will benefit the Emporia Farmers Market. Pizza makers

The Northern Heights High School Booster Club will have a “Fun”draiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Last Chance Cafe in Admire. NHHS principal Doug Boline and USD 252 superintendent Mike Nulton will cook pizza at 5 p.m. NHHS basketball coaches Tim Reimann, Lori Turner and Lanny Massey will cook pizza at 6 p.m. Club members will take orders.

Cafe owner Mike Kuhn will donate a part of each sale to the Booster Club. The club is also kicking off the Fan of the Game contests for each home basketball game.
