Upward Basketball
Upward Basketball is coming to Emporia, and it is time to register. Upward features a first-class sports experience that emphasizes healthy competition, sportsmanship, skill-building and fun versus the “win-at-all-costs” mentality found in many children’s sports leagues. Upward Basketball leagues are for kindergarten through sixth-grade girls and boys, and feature equal teams, equal playing time, postgame awards, reversible jerseys, and much more! Plus, practices and games are each limited to one hour per week.
The deadline to register is Dec. 12. Brochures with registration forms may be found at all Emporia elementary and fifth/sixth-grade schools and at First Church of the Nazarene, 2931 W. 24th Ave., anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information please call the First Church of the Nazarene office at 342-2858.
• Sports Shorts run each week on Thursday. If you have a sports-related announcement that you would like to see in Sports Shorts, e-mail your announcement to sports@emporiagazette.com or fax it to 342- 8108 Attn: Sports. Please include how long you would like your announcement to run.
