Emporia be proud
Clint Bowyer - Proud Emporian

EVERY YEAR ON November 11, Americans honor the men and women of the United States who have served in harms way, sometimes making the ultimate sacrifice to protect our great country and the very freedoms we enjoy.
Veterans Day, which originated right here in Emporia in 1953, is a National Day of remembrance that should never be overlooked or taken for granted. We all should take the time to reflect upon and thank those who served and continue to do so. While it’s easy to get caught up in everyday life and take for granted our freedom, please fly your American flag with pride, spread the word to your friends and neighbors of how important Veterans Day is to this country.
Take a moment out of your day to appreciate those sacrifices and what it means to be an American.
I am proud to be from Emporia and honored to have two grandfathers who served proudly in the military. Since I can remember, taking time to recognize our freedoms and respect those who have served has played a role in my family and my life.
Every Sunday, I take time to remember those sacrifices before I strap into my race car. I witness hundreds of thousands of my fellow Americans honor our National Anthem and celebrate our soldier’s commitments to the United States with flag presentations, fly overs, salutes and dozens of other ceremonial activities.
So on this day, be proud to call Emporia home, and more importantly be proud to call yourself an American and take the time to thank those who have served. Spread the word to your family, friends and neighbors and honor those who make everyday life what it is today in the United States.
