EMS wrestlers win tournament

The Emporia Middle School wrestling team finished in first place out of eight teams at its season-opening home tournament on Saturday.
EMS had five individuals earn first place medals, four second-place finishers, eight in third place and five in fourth. Earning first place medals, with a 3-0 record in their respective weight classes, were Max Detwiler at 90 pounds; Brett Charbonneau at 100; KC Sparks and Nollan Kirmer, both at 110; and Christian Torres at 127. Second place medals went to Blake Whitson at 90 pounds, Hunter Wing at 110, Elu Granado at 141 and Hayden Perry at 148.
