EMS girls go to 2-0

The Emporia Middle School seventh-grade girls basketball A-team ran its record to 2-0 on the year with a 37-24 home win over Manhattan-Anthony last Thursday.
Erica Garza led all scorers with 12 points and also added four steals, three rebounds and four assists, and Unique Jackson had 10 points, six rebounds, six steals and a block for EMS. Reagan Sanchez had nine points and four assists, and Whitney Wilhite had six points, five steals and five assists.
The Lady Viking B-team lost to Anthony 43-13, dropping to 0-2 on the year. Rachel Appling led EMS with five points, three steals and two rebounds. Madisyn Demler had four points, two steals and three rebounds and Elizabeth Heit and Ashley Evans had two points apiece.
The EMS teams travel to Shawnee Heights on Wednesday, then host Washburn Rural on Thursday.
