Third quarter meltdown

Garin Higgins said he wished there wouldn’t have been a halftime on Saturday.
Emporia State was playing its best football of the season, had rallied from two early special teams mistakes and a 14-0 deficit to tie the game at 28, and it looked as though a season full of disappointment might end on a good note.
Once the third quarter started, the team that finished with just two wins showed up.
Poor rushing defense, inexcusable mental breakdowns and a punt block turned into 28 unanswered points in the third quarter for Washburn and another Emporia State loss, 56-35.
