ESU women drop exhibition opener to KU

LAWRENCE — The Emporia State women dropped their exhibition opener on Saturday, losing 85-48 to Kansas.
Casssondra Boston led the Lady Hornets with 15 points. Negesti Taylor made 4-of-5 shots and scored 11 points in her ESU debut.
Emporia State struggled shooting against KU’s length, shooting 32 percent from the field and making only 6-of-24 3-pointers.
Krysten Boogaard led KU with 17 points, and Danielle McCray added 14.

Half
The Emporia State women trail Kansas 47-21 at the half.
The Lady Hornets hung with the Jayhawks early and even led twice.
After Jamie Augustyn made a layup to make it 17-14, the Jayhawks went on a 10-0 run. KU also used an 18-1 run later in the half to add onto its lead.
Cassonda Boston has made two 3-pointers and leads ESU with six points. Negesti Taylor has five points and has made her field goal attempts.
Danielle McCray leads the Jayhawks with 12 points, and Krysten Boogaard is the only other Jayhawk in double figures with 11.
