More can get H1N1 vaccine

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Adults with underlying medical conditions now may receive H1N1 vaccines in Lyon County.

According to Renee Hively, public health manager for the Lyon County Health Department, these groups may now receive the vaccine:

• ALL children and adolescents between 6 months and 24 years of age.

• Adults between 25 and 64 years of age who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.

• Pregnant women.

• Persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age (parents, siblings, daycare providers, etc.)

• Health care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material.

The vaccine is free of charge and will be available while supplies last.

If you fall within these priority groups, vaccination clinics will be held at the Lyon County Health Department, 420 West 15th Ave., from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

The consent form is available at www.flinthillshealth.org to download and complete before going to the clinic.
