Another round of cuts in state aid is causing some area school districts to take another look at their budgets for the current school year.
Districts were notified Wednesday afternoon to expect reductions in state aid because of a projected $235 million shortfall in revenues.
Per-pupil full-time-equivalency state aid has dropped in the last two years from $4,433 per-pupil FTE to the current $4,218 that was used for FY 2010 planning.
Because of a shortfall in revenue during FY 2009, the Legislature had enacted retroactive cuts in state aid that caused local districts to go back to their budgets and reconfigure them to account for the drop in available funds.
Superintendents in the area believe the cuts could be about $150 per pupil FTE, which would reduce the current $4,218 to $4,068.

LOL, I hate to scream but, USE THE 1.6 MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE ARTIFICAL TURF AND PUT IT TO BETTER USE!
Just pisses me off to hear of proposed cut backs but we can spend a wasteful 1.6 million for a damn artifical turf.
Infuriating! Fire the bums making these boneheaded decisions.
