The 2009 Boy Scouts Merit Badge University was held Oct. 17 at Flint Hills Technical College.
Merit Badge University is a unique opportunity for Scouts to earn achievements. The one-day event is designed to help Scouts earn merit badges, explore career fields and learn about areas of interest.
Approximately 200 participants attended the event with 140 Scouts attending a variety of courses. Numerous adults volunteered their time to help facilitate the event and serve as instructors.
A variety of courses were offered for the Scouts to earn merit badges and learn about possible career paths in swimming, graphic arts, auto mechanics, genealogy, first aid, finger painting, citizenship in the community, world and nation, rail roading, emergency preparedness, fishing, plumbing, journalism, computers, target first class, dentistry and electricity.
