Lyon County commissioners had a short action session Thursday, with few items on the agenda.
During the meeting, Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods discussed his nomination for president of the Kansas Highway Association for 2010. This is a one-year term. Woods said it would require a few extra meetings and he’s held the position before. Commissioners approved the nomination.
In other business, commissioners:
• Approved two zoning requests, which included a request for Agriculture Special-Use Single Family Dwelling by US National Bank Association and a request for Agriculture Special-Use Accessory Mobile Home by Steven Williams. A third request for a text change also was approved to allow for Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board discretionary decisions to allow for professional offices in an agricultural district without having to re-zone the property general business.
• Approved sending Vici Reynolds to Crisis Communications and Media Response Training for Today’s Leaders on Nov. 9 and paying the $195 registration fee.
• Canceled old purchase orders.
• Approved a two-year lease with the State Parole Board.
Commissioners also passed the consent agenda, which included:
• Warrants payable in the amount of $106,589.80.
• Approval of the only bid that meets the specifications for aluminized type II metric sheet piling from Welborn Sales Inc. for $80,830.
• Approval of the low bid of Vegetation Management Supply for 180 gallons of Pathway at $29.99 per gallon.
• Signing the contract for construction engineering inspection by the consultant for U.S. Highway 50 and Road F.
