After a questionable call, a lot of anger and a ton of extra soccer, Emporia High is headed to Class 5A’s final four.
No strangers to overtime, the Spartans finally broke through in the 108th minute with Jared Schaefer’s goal off an assist from Yonathan Pachacano, winning 2-1 on Tuesday in their State quarterfinal at Newton. The Spartans will head to Topeka’s Hummer Sports Park on Friday for a State semifinal matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas.
