Henderson runs to 3,200 crown

Wichita— The start to the 2009 State meet had a pretty familiar feel for Olpe’s Katelyn Henderson.
Like a year ago, Henderson began the meet at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium atop the medal stand after winning a 3,200-meter title.
Henderson hopes to make a repeat trip there today, unlike last year.
“I had strep throat last year, so it definitely wasn’t my best,” said Henderson, who followed up a victory in the 1A 3,200 last year with a runner-up showing in the 1,600 and an 11th in the 800. “I want to make up for that.”
Henderson will get that chance today. The Eagle sophomore began her pursuit of the distance triple crown by winning Friday’s Class 2A 3,200 to start the day. Today, she’ll go after titles in the 800 and 1,600.

Congrats Katelyn on another successful season, look forward to seeing you run this fall during CC.
It does seem that Olpe has family at the Gazette. Don't report on them less, just give the other high schools the same coverage.
