The local food growers’ group bumped up its efforts toward another level this week, when growers met with consumers at an institutional level at the Flint Hills Technical College.
Bill Hanlon, director of the sustainable living center at the college, said that representatives of Evco Wholesale Foods, the Emporia school district and Emporia State University attended the meeting, intended to learn more about how local growers and foods professionals could work together.
“It was kind of an introductory meeting to lay groundwork,” Hanlon said, chuckling as he added, “Answer three questions and get 40 more.”
