WICHITA - Emporia High sophomore Sarah Kolmer won the Class 5A State title in the girls triple jump during Day Two of the State meet on Saturday at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
Kolmer finished with a distance of 38 feet, 3 inches in the event, just ahead of Jalisa Brice of Gardner-Edgerton, who posted a 38-0.
Kolmer's brother, junior Mark Kolmer, provided another highlight for EHS on Day Two, finishing second in the boys javelin for the second straight year. Kolmer posted a personal-record throw of 193-11, behind only the 195-10 toss of Shawnee Heights' Jesse Vaughn.
As a team, the EHS girls finished 10th with 29 points, and the boys finished 16th with 12 points.
