CARY, N.C. — Emporia State pitcher Ben Graham sat in the Holiday Inn hotel lobby on Friday night in Cary, N.C. on the eve of the biggest game he will pitch in his life.
Graham tried to reflect on what a long and strange trip it’s been to get to today’s National Championship game against Lynn. Three weeks ago, if you had told Graham or any of his teammates that they would be here, well, they might have told you to see a shrink.
“If you asked me what the percentage would be for us to play in a National Championship, I might say 2 percent,” Graham said. “Because I felt like if we won the Regional tournament, we’d maybe, maybe win one game because we were playing so bad.”
