Safety and health could walk hand-in-hand to some area schools next year as a result of the federal Safe Routes to School project administered by the Kansas Department of Transportation, with financing from the Federal Highway Administration.
Meetings are scheduled on Tuesday for residents around Walnut, William Allen White and Logan Avenue schools to hear plans for changes and to answer questions.
