Cary, N.C. — It was the Regional championship and when Central Missouri started to make its bid at a comeback, Emporia State coach Bob Fornelli went to freshman reliever Dominic King.

King, known for his slow heartbeat and even slower fastball, made one mistake that day and the ball flew down the left field line, landed way over the fence, and, luckily, just foul. Fornelli looked at King to see what his reaction was, and he flashed his signature sly smile.
“It doesn’t bother him,” Fornelli said. “He knows what he has. He’s going to work with what he has and he’s going to give our team a chance to win every time he goes out there.”
