White finds a bigger role

ESU shortstop Jacob White tags Jason Morriss of Angelo State to foil a steal attempt in the sixth inning of Thursday's NCAA D-II South Central Regional at Warrensburg, Mo.

It would be easy to mistake Jacob White for Emporia State’s bat boy.

Ask the beanpole middle infielder how much he weighs, and his response is, “Can I lie?”

The answer would be 145 pounds, skinny enough that he’s tough to spot when the Hornets huddle up before a game. Maybe that’s why White got lost in the mix during the regular season, when he started just 10 games despite hitting .405.

It would be nice to see the rest of the article. I understand the financial pressure though.
