Camping costs

CAMP ALEXANDER wishes to thank you for the article that appeared in the special section Discover Emporia and the Flint Hills.
I do need to inform your readers of one change the Camp Alexander Board has made since I was quoted about the rates for this summer. After our financial problems of last summer, the board approved the $125 weekly rate. At the March board meeting, the board reversed itself and raised the weekly rate $5 over last year’s rate. So children can have a safe, fun summer for $90.00 a week. We hope many parents will take advantage of the bargain. To enroll your child you can go to the office at 501 Commercial St. and the staff will take care of you.
Kay Calvert
Chairman of the Board

This is off-topic, but why is the Camp pond closed to fishing? Me and my 5 year old son had alot of fun there last summer. Is there any way we could fish there this year? It gets dangerous sometimes when we have to go to the river.

There are many places to take your son fishing besides the river CHT. Stop by the KDWP Office at the North end of the campus and pick up the Atlas of Public Walk In Fishing opportunities where KDWP has leased up fished rights all across the state. Many public and private bodies of water can now be accessed with the only requirement being your fishing license.
