The Emporia Arts Council is coming closer to raising enough money to begin work on a new arts center. Construction on the new center, to be located next to the Granada Theatre, could begin soon if the council can raise enough money.
The council is currently $180,000 away from its $2.8 million goal, according to arts council director Melissa Windsor.
