Philips excels for ESU in final meet

Connie Philips has been trying to break her personal-best throw in the javelin since her freshman season at Emporia State. On Saturday at the National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the final meet of her career, Philips broke her record, broke the school record and finished fifth in the nation.
Philips’ 148-foot throw earned her All-American honors for the third time in her career.
“Connie really came through as a senior in her final meet,” ESU coach Dave Harris said.
