JUDY LOHMEYER, who opened her new business, Eclectic Catering, at 7 E. Sixth Ave.
• Dennis Charbonneau, who was hired as Emporia High School’s new wrestling coach. Charbonneau previously coached at Clay Center, where he won four state titles.
• The Emporia State University baseball team, which advanced to the NCAA division II World Series.
• Shalla and Robert Bennett, who will open a new children’s clothing store in downtown Emporia this summer. PunkinDoodles will be at 725 Commercial St. and will be open in August.
• Rick Ginter, Aron Dody, Steve Mollach and Bill Leffler, who had to kiss farm animals because Americus Elementary School students reached fund-raising goals. Ginter had to kiss a donkey, Dody kissed a pig, Mollach kissed a calf and Leffler kissed a goat.
