Dressed in a Dora the Explorer knit shirt, a lavender skirt and tennis shoes that sparkle, M’Kenna Walburn Heins is every inch a “Dora Girl.” And she’s just as lively as the cartoon character she claims as her alter-ego.
With her black eyes and her dark hair cut like Dora’s, M’Kenna even looks like the image on her shirt. With the possible exception of the pink-and-white striped brace she wears on her right leg.
M’Kenna, who will be 3 next month, was diagnosed last year with neurofibromatosis, a disease that causes tumors to grow on nerve endings, both outside and inside the body.
