The Emporia State University Theatre announces its 55th annual summer theatre season:
• “Beau Jest” by James Sherman (June 10-13)
• “Suds: The Rocking 60s Musical Soap Opera” by Gunderson, Scott and Gild (June 24-27)
• “Luv” by Murray Shisgal (July 8-11)
• “Leading Ladies” by Ken Ludwig (July 22-25)
The season begins with “Beau Jest”, by Chicago-based playwright and actor James Sherman. Called “hilarious and quite moving,” by the Chicago Sun-Times and a “mainstream crowd-pleaser” by Variety, “Beau Jest” tells the tale of Sarah Goldman. Sarah is the daughter of a very traditional Jewish family. She has secretly been dating Chris for some time now. She knows that her parents won’t approve, so when the time comes to introduce him to the family she hires Bob, an out of work actor to fake the perfect boyfriend! Sparks fly when Bob and Sarah actually hit it off.
