Emporia High’s baseball team is in the Seaman Class 5A regional and will face Shawnee Heights on Tuesday in the first round.
The fourth-seeded Spartans (11-9) and fifth-seeded T-Birds (12-8) will play at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Seaman. In their previous doubleheader meeting this year, Shawnee Heights won both games at Soden’s Grove by scores of 11-5 and 17-2.
Following Tuesday’s game, top-seeded Seaman (18-2) will play eighth-seeded Highland Park (1-15) at 4:30 p.m. The regional championship game will be at 7 p.m.
The Spartan baseball, softball and soccer teams each received official notification of their Regional draws at a seeding meeting Saturday.
EHS soccer (7-8-1)
The Spartan soccer team is seeded sixth in the Central Regional 2 bracket and hosts McPherson-Elyria (4-5-0) tonight at 6 p.m. at TRYSA. The winner of tonight’s game travels to Salina Central (11-4-1) on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game. On the other side of the regional bracket, seventh-seeded Topeka West (6-9-1) hosts fourth-seeded Newton (4-11-1) today at 6 p.m., with the winner moving on to face Seaman (10-3-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The regional championship will be on Thursday at a time to be determined.
EHS softball (2-18)
Seeded seventh and placed in the Shawnee Heights regional, the Spartans will attempt to end their 15-game losing streak against the host school (13-7) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Shawnee in Topeka. The other first round game features third-seeded Seaman (12-8) and sixth-seeded Highland Park (4-16) at 4:45 p.m. The championship game for a berth at State will be at 6:30 p.m.
